Repair your appliances and use your service deduction on your tax return.
Did you know you can get a tax deduction when your appliances are repaired at home? With the service deduction you can deduct the labour cost.

Save money with the service deduction – when you have your appliances repaired
Did you know you can get a tax deduction when your appliances are repaired at home? With the so-called service deduction (servicefradrag) you can deduct the labour cost from your taxable income when you pay for a repair – for example of a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, tumble dryer or cooker.
In practice, this means you get part of the cost back if you use a professional service provider like us to carry out the work in your private home.
What does the service deduction cover?
The service deduction applies to a range of services carried out in your home or holiday home, including:
- Repair and maintenance of major appliances
- Cleaning and window cleaning
- Gardening and snow clearing
However, it only applies to the labour cost – not spare parts, travel or other material costs. That is why it is important that your invoice is itemised so the labour cost is clearly shown. We naturally make sure your receipt is drawn up correctly, so you can use it with the Danish Tax Agency (SKAT) without any problems.
How to claim the deduction
It is quick and easy to benefit from the service deduction. Simply do the following:
- Have the work done by an approved service provider (such as us)
- Keep your invoice – it serves as documentation
- Report the labour cost directly in your preliminary income assessment (forskudsopgørelse) on skat.dk
- The deduction is included in your annual tax statement, and your tax is adjusted automatically
It is all done online and takes just a few minutes. You can either wait and report it in your annual tax statement – or do it straight away in your preliminary income assessment, so you get the deduction throughout the year.

How much can you deduct?
In 2025 and 2026 you can deduct up to DKK 17,500 in labour costs per person. This applies to everyone over 18 in the household. If there are two adults in the home, you can together deduct up to DKK 35,000.
It is the value of the labour that counts – so the more jobs you have done, the larger the deduction you can potentially get.
What is the deduction worth in real money?
The service deduction gives you a tax saving of around 26%.
This means:
- If you pay DKK 1,000 in labour, you save around DKK 260 in tax.
- If you pay DKK 2,000, you get around DKK 520 back.
- And if you pay DKK 5,000, the saving is around DKK 1,300.
So it is quite a significant benefit – especially for those of you who look after your appliances and have them serviced rather than replaced.
Requirements for the service deduction
To use the deduction, the following must be met:
- The work must be carried out in your private home or holiday home
- You must be fully liable to tax in Denmark
- You must not pay in cash – payment must be made by bank transfer, MobilePay, payment card or similar
- You may only deduct the labour cost – not spare parts or materials
- You must keep the documentation (invoice and proof of payment) for at least 3 years
